CGPA on a 10-Point Scale
CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) on a 10.0 scale is standard at many Indian universities. Each semester's SGPA is weighted by credits, then rolled into CGPA across all completed semesters.
CGPA = Σ (SGPA × credits for term) / Σ credits (conceptually)
Exact registrar rules vary — always use official grade sheets for applications.
CGPA to Percentage — No Universal Rule
Different bodies publish different multipliers:
| Example | Formula (illustrative) |
|---|---|
| CBSE (class 10) | Historically CGPA × 9.5 for boards — verify current notice |
| VTU | Segment-based multipliers |
| Companies | May use their own cutoff tables |

Why Recruiters Ask for Percentage
Legacy cutoffs (e.g. 60% or 6.5 CGPA) often exist in job forms. Equating CGPA to % is arbitrary — push back with official conversion letters when possible.
WES and ECE evaluations for US study use foreign credential rules — not the same as a simple multiply.
