Trip Fuel Cost
Basic relationship:
Fuel used = Distance ÷ Fuel economy
Cost = Fuel used × Price per unit
Distance in miles or km must match economy in MPG (miles per gallon) or L/100km (liters per 100 km).
MPG vs L/100km
MPG — higher is better (US/UK).
L/100km — lower is better (Europe) — inverse intuition.
L/100km = 235.214583 / MPG (US gallon)
Always check which gallon (US vs imperial) when converting.
CO₂ Estimates
Rough emissions scale with fuel burned and fuel carbon content. Diesel vs gasoline differ; electric vehicles shift emissions to the grid mix.
Use CO₂ figures for rough comparison — not regulatory compliance.
How to Use This Fuel Calculator
Enter distance, fuel economy, and fuel price. See estimated fuel, trip cost, and emissions where supported. Compare vehicles or routes before long drives.
