Decimal hours express minutes as a fraction of an hour. 30 minutes = 0.5 hours, 15 minutes = 0.25 hours, 45 minutes = 0.75 hours. Most payroll software requires time in decimal format.

First calculate total hours worked. In the US, overtime typically starts after 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week. Subtract 8 from your daily total to find overtime hours.
