Percentage change = ((New Value - Old Value) / |Old Value|) × 100. A positive result means an increase; negative means a decrease. For example, from 80 to 120: ((120-80)/80) × 100 = 50% increase.

Percentage change compares a new value to an original (directional — increase or decrease). Percentage difference compares two values without a clear 'original' — it uses the average of both as the base.

Yes. If a value more than doubles, the percentage increase exceeds 100%. For example, going from 50 to 150 is a 200% increase. Similarly, a value can never decrease by more than 100% (it would reach zero at -100%).
