Semester GPA Calculator

Semester GPA only includes courses from one semester. Cumulative GPA averages all semesters together, weighted by credit hours. A strong semester can pull up your cumulative GPA, while a weak one can pull it down.

The impact depends on how many total credits you have. Early in college, one bad semester has a large effect. Later, when you have more credits, one semester's impact diminishes. For example, if you have 60 credits at 3.5, a 2.0 semester of 15 credits would drop you to about 3.2.

Not by simply averaging them, because semesters may have different credit loads. You need to weight each semester by its credits: (Σ semester GPA × semester credits) / total credits.
