Final Grade Calculator

Use the formula: required final = (target overall × 100% − current average × weight so far) ÷ final weight. For example, if your current average is 85% on 80% of the grade and the final is 20%, and you want 90% overall: (90 − 85×0.8) ÷ 0.2 = 110% — meaning the target may be impossible without extra credit or a different weighting.

Every class defines how much the final counts (often 20-40%). Homework, midterms, and participation each have weights. Always use your instructor's published percentages — a generic calculator is only as accurate as the numbers you enter.

That means your target grade is not reachable with the final alone given your current average and weights. You may need to adjust expectations, ask about extra credit, or confirm whether drops/curves apply.
