Standardized tests, school enrollment cutoffs, and developmental assessments all require precise chronological age. A difference of even one month can change test score interpretations or grade placement decisions.

Doctors use chronological age for growth charts, medication dosing, vaccination schedules, and developmental milestone tracking. For premature babies, 'adjusted age' (chronological age minus weeks of prematurity) is often used instead.
